Watch Sharon Van Etten on the UW Memorial Union Terrace

Sharon Van Etten had to battle large flying moths during her show on the UW Memorial Union Terrace Thursday night, but that didn't stop her from putting on a dazzling performance in front of a large crowd. "I'm from New Jersey. We have bugs there," she said deadpan, as the invasion of insects became a running joke during the evening.

Interview: Foreign Fields preps new album

Foreign Fields

Foreign Fields has just finished their second album and is trying out new tunes on a short Midwest tour that will bring them to the East Side Club in Madison on Thursday as part of the Sunset Music Series.

Brian Holl of Foreign Fields talked to us about the new album, his days slumming with Matt from PHOX and what the Nashville music scene has to offer. The East Side Club is a great space to enjoy some good music, beer and that primo lake view. Boom Forest and Dietrich Gosser will also join the fun. See you there!

Insanely bizarre Tim & Eric team with Dr. Steve Brule for tour

Tim and Eric with Dr. Steve Brule

Comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, better known as Tim and Eric, are hitting the road to give us mortal souls a taste of their uncanny, bizarre personalities in person. If you're a fan of Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie or the duo's series on Adult Swim,  this will be a show you won't want to miss.

To make things even more insane, all-around goofball Dr. Steve Brule (aka John C. Reilly) will be tagging along with ungodly entertaining DJ Douggpound opening up. Tim & Eric take the art of comedy provocation to a whole new level straddling the fine line between ethereal and juvenile humor. The duo have definitely carved out their own path.

Canada by way of Mexico: The Tallest Tree - Boat

Some of the best songs we receive are from bands with no music industry connections at all, as evidenced by this recent message:

Hi Rick & Katie,

The Tallest Tree is a band formed by Dawn from Dundas, ON and Armando from Mexico City.

We have our first single and video to show you today.

We met a couple years ago when Armando's band, The Oats, was playing in Canada.

And that's when Armando fell in love with Dawn.
